Following successful rollout over the past 12 years, CEA is planning another round of its flagship training course titled: Degradation Kinetics Assessment of Laboratory and Field Studies to Obtain DegT50 Values According to FOCUS and EFSA Guidance, in October 2026.

This training course will feature tutorials as well as hands-on practical exercises that demonstrate the principles and concepts of degradation kinetics assessment of active substances and their transformation products, including the practical application in EU regulatory process. The virtual training course will include:

✅ Types of degradation kinetic models, data processing and the assessment of goodness of fit.
✅ Degradation kinetics assessment of soil and water/sediment (Level P-I and P-II) studies to derive persistence and modelling endpoints according to FOCUS and EFSA guidance using CAKE v4.0.
✅ Normalization procedures for laboratory and field DegT50/DT50 values to reference soil moisture (pF2) and temperature (20 oC) conditions.
✅ Comprehensive course notes and tutorials covering the above topics with practical exercises, including worked examples to assist all participants in applying the concepts and procedures of degradation kinetics assessment as outlined in FOCUS and EFSA guidance in the EU regulatory process.
