Cambridge Environmental Assessments are delighted to announce that we have won a research and development (R&D) project with the UK regulatory authority (Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)).
The aim of this R&D project is to review the options available for refining the ecotoxicological risk assessment for aquatic organisms potentially exposed to plant protection products (PPPs). Methods already being successfully used in the EU and UK will be reviewed, together with those that could potentially be used in the future based on scientific literature and inclusion in other global regulatory frameworks. The project covers both pelagic aquatic organisms and sediment dwellers, and will take into account experimental, desk-based and modelling refinement options.
The project is a collaborative effort, being led by CEA and bringing in expertise from sister company Enviresearch and two independent experts in the field, Alan Lawrence and Gabe Weyman.
The project is due for completion in March 2024.
