Study design and monitoring

CEA’s extensive experience helps clients design various types of higher-tier studies aimed at addressing specific issues in environmental fate data packages and environmental risk assessments. We review existing data and understand the specific issues before developing a study design. We aim to generate robust, high-quality data that address the gaps in the risk assessment or specific concerns raised by regulatory authorities. We are conscious of balancing cost and available time against the regulatory need.

Some examples of past higher-tier study design and monitoring projects undertaken by CEA

  • Investigation of transport of soil sterilant through soil and from treated soil. Series of laboratory and field studies (across EU) designed, placed and monitored.
  • Investigation of run-off of a range of applied pesticides, in the field, including the design of bespoke systems for measuring the effect of different cultivation practices on loss via run-off.
  • Field drainage studies in the UK to calibrate loss from fields under realistic situations and real soils.
