Ecotoxicologist

• Akshaya joined the aquatic ecotoxicology team at Cambridge Environmental Assessments (CEA) in March 2025. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Ecology. Her MSc dissertation focuses on the study of migratory birds at Pamban Island, a project that deepened her interest in aquatic ecosystems.
• Before joining CEA, Akshaya gained hands-on experience working with an NGO focused on blue carbon ecosystems, particularly researching seagrass and mangrove habitats and furthered her practical knowledge as a Junior Animal Technician at the University of Cambridge, where she contributed to animal care and research support.
• At CEA, Akshaya is involved in higher-tier aquatic ecotoxicology studies, maintaining good laboratory practices for mesocosm studies, taxonomic identification, and GLP culturing, ensuring the high standards of scientific integrity in aquatic ecotoxicology research.
