Alan is an associate of CEA, having previously worked at CEA for more than 15 years, now operating as a subcontractor. Prior to a career in consultancy, he worked for a major contract research organisation as a good laboratory practice (GLP) study director on ecotoxicology laboratory and field studies, and for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) Central Science Laboratory as an entomologist. Alan specialises in higher-tier risk assessments for non-target organisms, designing laboratory and field programmes and liaising with EU Member State authorities. He has also conducted research projects for the UK government into aspects of risk assessment for non-target arthropods, birds and mammals, and the use of statistics in ecotoxicology field studies. Alan is a regular contributor to industry conferences and copies of his presentations and scientific posters from his time at CEA can be found in the CEA library.
