Robert operates as an aquatic ecotoxicologist since March 2025, where he has been involved in higher tier ecotoxicology studies, long term culture of aquatic organisms under GLP conditions and mesocosm studies. Robert has particularly enjoyed learning emergent insect taxonomy and identification while performing enumeration and ID of samples and has developed his skills towards producing training guides on difficult to identify families for future team members to benefit from.
Robert has an MSc from Nottingham University in Biological chemistry, where he was awarded the Maason-Gulland award for outstanding laboratory work. Robert previously worked with a molecular diagnostics company, where he began as a QC technician and gained experience of working with a GLP compliant laboratory, before moving to R&D and working on a Gates foundation funded project to develop low-cost molecular diagnostics for charity distribution.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys painting miniatures and competing in armoured medieval combat tournaments with Cambridge medieval fighters guild.
